The Defence Force said that at approximately 9.20am (Afghanistan time) yesterday, the last vehicle in a convoy was hit by an improvised explosive device in Bamiyan.
The attack occurred northwest of Do Abe, near where Lance Corporals Rory Malone and Pralli Durrer were killed in a firefight on August 5.
The soldiers were on their way to the Romero base which is around 10 to 15 kilometres away by road.
The remaining personnel in the patrol secured the location and awaited more support.
Taleban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
